Lattice is the thinnest stock we install, which makes it the first thing to fail in a New England winter. Ice loads the crossings, and snow off a roof can shear a panel outright, so panels sit in a rabbeted frame rather than stapled to posts. Cedar holds up better than pine here. Vines trap moisture, so refinish before they establish.
